Learn French with Chloë, A Certified French Teacher (K-12) with a Master's Degree in Foreign Language Education (Ed.M.)

Bonjour à toutes et à tous !


I am a Certified French Teacher (K–12) with an Ed.M. in Foreign Language Education. Currently, I am offering private French lessons for children and adults, welcoming students from beginner to advanced proficiency levels. Options include one-on-one instruction as well as classes for pairs and small groups.


My pedagogical approach is communicative and standards-based in accordance with the proficiency guidelines established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).


To this end, I design immersive French lessons that prioritize meaningful interactions, incorporating authentic materials and engaging students in practical, real-world tasks.


My primary goal is for students to strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language, while developing communicative competence and cultural literacy.

About Learn French with Chloë

My name is Chloë Blake Stevenson. I am a Certified French Teacher (K–12) with an Ed.M. in Foreign Language Education from Rutgers University and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Reed College.

​

I have 15 years of experience teaching French to students across a range of proficiency levels, from introductory to Advanced Placement (AP). In particular, I have taught French at Princeton Charter School, The Lawrenceville School, Rutgers Preparatory School, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

 

I employ a communicative, standards-based pedagogical approach, consistent with the proficiency guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

 

Currently, I provide tutoring for students aiming to improve their performance in French at local public and private schools. In addition, I offer French lessons for adults, focusing on Francophiles and working professionals.

 

I am passionate about the learning and teaching process, and I am eager to share my love of the French language and Francophone culture with all students.
