I am currently offering private French language instruction for children and adults, with openings for new students at all proficiency levels from absolute beginners to advanced. I offer personalized one-on-one sessions as well as classes for pairs and small groups.


My pedagogical approach is communicative and standards-based in alignment with the proficiency guidelines established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). To this end, I design French lessons that prioritize authentic materials, meaningful interactions, and task-based activities. This method enables students to develop communicative competence and cultural literacy, while strengthening their listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills in the target language.

About Learn French with Chloë

My name is Chloë Blake Stevenson. I am a Certified French Teacher (K–12) with an Ed.M. in Foreign Language Education from Rutgers University and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Reed College.

​

I have 15 years of experience teaching French to students across a range of proficiency levels, from introductory to Advanced Placement (AP). In particular, I have taught French at Princeton Charter School, The Lawrenceville School, Rutgers Preparatory School, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

 

I employ a communicative, standards-based pedagogical approach, consistent with the proficiency guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

 

Currently, I provide tutoring for students aiming to improve their performance in French at local public and private schools. In addition, I offer French lessons for adults, focusing on Francophiles and working professionals.

 

I am passionate about the learning and teaching process, and I am eager to share my love of the French language and Francophone culture with all students.
