Learn French with Chloë, A Certified French Teacher (K-12) with a Master's Degree in Foreign Language Education (Ed.M.)

Meilleurs vœux à toutes et à tous pour cette nouvelle année !

Happy New Year!

If this is your first time visiting my website, welcome!

I am a Certified French Teacher (K–12) with a Master’s degree in Foreign Language Education (Ed.M.), offering private instruction for children and adults through one-on-one lessons as well as classes for pairs and small groups.

My pedagogical approach to language instruction is communicative and standards-based. This means that my primary goal is to help students learn how to use the target language in the real world. To this end, I design French lessons in alignment with the proficiency standards established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

My lessons prioritize authentic materials, meaningful interaction, and task-based activities. This method enables students to develop communicative competence and cultural literacy, while strengthening their listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills in French.

Currently, I am accepting new students for lessons in-person and online. All proficiency levels are welcome from beginners to the Advanced Placement (AP) level and beyond.

About Learn French with Chloë

My name is Chloë Blake Stevenson. I am a Certified French Teacher (K–12) with an Ed.M. in Foreign Language Education from Rutgers University and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Reed College.

I have 15 years of experience teaching French to students across a range of proficiency levels, from introductory to Advanced Placement (AP). In particular, I have taught French at Princeton Charter School, The Lawrenceville School, Rutgers Preparatory School, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

I employ a communicative, standards-based pedagogical approach, consistent with the proficiency guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

Currently, I provide tutoring for students aiming to improve their performance in French at local public and private schools. In addition, I offer French lessons for adults, focusing on Francophiles and working professionals.

I am passionate about the learning and teaching process, and I am eager to share my love of the French language and Francophone culture with all students.
