Last night, a small group of students went to see Paris Combo live in concert at City Winery New York City. What a memorable evening!

If you're not familiar with Paris Combo, their music is an eclectic mix of sounds, influenced by cabaret, gypsy jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt, French pop from the 1930's, North African rhythms, and swing.

Our group gathered at a long table in front of the stage. (We were lucky to have seats located right in the center of the room).

We took some time to order food and drinks before the concert began.

Then the music started! The audience was captivated by the mesmerizing voice of the lead singer, Belle du Berry, who was accompanied by Potzi on guitar, François Jeannin on drums, Emmanuel Chabbey on bass, and David Lewis on piano, trumpet, and bugle.

We enjoyed listening to old favorites, i.e. « Moi mon âme et ma conscience » from the group's self-titled debut album, Paris Combo (1998); « Living room » from their second album, Living Room (2000); « Attraction » and « Fibre de verre » from their third album, Attraction (2002); and « Aquarium » from their fourth album, Motifs (2005).

Students were equally excited to hear some new songs, i.e. « Je te vois partout » and « Lux » from Paris Combo's latest album, 5 (2013).
